PEX, an acronym for crosslinked polyethylene, is a flexible, durable tubing product that has been proven for more than 40 years in homes and businesses worldwide. It resists corrosion, pitting, scaling and, due to its incredible flexibility and expansion properties, can even help resist damage from freezing. Currently, there are three methods to manufacture PEX PEX-a (Engel method), PEX-b (Silane method) and PEX-c (E-beam or radiation method).
The PEX-a Engel-method manufacturing process produces PEX with the highest degree of crosslinking for a product that is the most flexible, least likely to kink and offers thermal and shape memory characteristics that maximize the best fitting option for PEX expansion fittings with PEX-a rings, also called Pro.
